STS House

STS House

"STS" apps. are unique in that they are designed by our team of Speech-Language Pathologists and Occupational Therapists. "STS House" is an animated, interactive tool that allows parents and therapists to create endless teaching opportunities in the areas of receptive and expressive language, auditory processing, speech production, visual- perceptual skills, fine motor skills, and problem solving… just to name a few. Our mission is to help therapists enhance speech therapy and occupational therapy sessions as well as provide families with a fun way to help their children learn.

"STS House" features our adorable characters (Mia, Kai, Baby Jo-C, Zeek the Puppy, and Little Chicken) in a colorful, interactive setting that is naturally appealing to children. The three interactive objects on the STS House Front (fire hydrant, mailbox, and chimney) provide a sampling of what is to come. Enter the house and the fun begins! Each room contains 5 interactive objects along with several objects that are not interactive. With the objects that are not interactive, there is a corresponding sound that provides feedback.

Directions for using "STS House"

In each room, use the menu button to select the "Follow Directions Mode" or use the "Free Play Mode" to create your own fun. The "Follow Directions Mode" requires the "Play" button to be activated in order to proceed to the next direction. This is important because it allows the child time to respond to directions and allows the parent or therapist opportunities to reinforce concepts before going on to the next stimulus item. If the child attempts to activate the incorrect object, a subtle, low-toned sound will occur. The direction will automatically be repeated until the child is able to find the object named as requested in the direction. Remember if the app does not allow activation of some objects, check to ensure that all of the bubbles in the bathroom are popped, the clothing items in the bedroom are all put in the hamper, the writing on the wall in the bedroom is wiped off, and the water in the backyard is cleaned off. Leaving these activities undone will impede further activation of objects.

"STS House" can be used for teaching a variety of skills. Children will be able to:

  1. Follow and give 1-step directions
  2. Ask and answer "WH" questions.
  3. Practice use of grammatical structures
